Day 8: Saddened Pictures

Day 8 of my 30 day project is a photo that makes me sad/angry.

In 2009 I went with some of my classmates to Europe. We visited Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria. While in Germany we went to Dachau, which was a concentration camp from 1933-1945. It was one of the saddest moments of my life. I saw the gas chambers, the barracks (where they lived), the crematory, the churches, the execution range, and all of the other horrible living conditions. Over the 12 years of their existence there were 200,000+ people registered at Dachau and there were approximately 35,000 people that died there. On the positive side of things, it made me proud to know that America helped liberate the camp!!

Below are a few pictures of my visit there. On the front gates it states "Arbeit macht frei" which roughly translates to "work brings freedom". It just broke my heart to walk in there and try to visualize the hard ships of all of those people that passed through there. If you live in America, please count your blessings and realize that you could have it MUCH worse.

Me at the gates of Dachau.

Me standing by the fence. Keep in mind that I am 5'7".

Me standing in front of the Crematorium sign. I wasn't sure whether to smile or not.

The crematorium.

The "Pistol Range for Execution". You could only imagine what was done there.

The memorial at Dachau for all of those who had to suffer those 11 years of misery.

Day 7: Cheese!

And then there was day 7 of my 30 day project, and it asked me for a picture that made me happy....so smile!! CHEESE!!!

Well, let me tell you, I'm a picture kind of gal! I take pictures all the time and I even annoy my husband with my "let's take a picture! Smile!" all the time. I even have a 365 Day with The Resor's on facebook. I post a different picture every day that kinda explains how my day went, or what I did that day, or just whatever.

So today's topic is just difficult. I don't think it's humanly possible to just pick one picture that makes me happy! They all make me happy...for the most part. However, lots of pictures make me sad just because it makes me question where all my time went!?! So let me cut to the chase and just show you guys some pictures.

My brother and I in South Carolina. I love that we match and we look so happy. I'm holding up some kind of eel that my dad had caught. 2006.

Okay, so I was hiding in the refrigerator and someone found me. This makes me laugh because it makes my husband die laughing every time!! 2008.

Evan and I threw my parents a surprise party for their 25th anniversary. It was an absolute blast and something I'll always remember. 2007.

Evan and I, right after we got engaged. This just shows our personalities so well that it makes me so happy every time I see it. :) October 09, 2009.

Evan saying his vows to me on our wedding day. Of course looking back on our special day makes me so happy! Besides, the look on my face is priceless in this picture!! October 12, 2oo9.

My husband and I on the beach. We set a timer on the camera and took this! That night was probably one of the best nights of my life. He was actually -willing- to take pictures!!

Like I said, there are so many pictures that I absolutely love. I just couldn't share all of them, so I picked just a few! :)
