Skipping my tears to Day 16

Alright, so I'm skipping days 13, 14, and 15 on my 30 day project. I am definately not a reader so picking a fictional and a non fictional book are outta the question. As far as a fanfic, I'm not into those sorts of things. So you have it, my blog, my rules. :)

So, day 16 it is. I have several songs that make me cry or nearly cry. Whether it comes to songs about daddys and their daughters, or love at first sight, or growing old, or waiting for that special someone to come back from war, they all make me teary eyed. I'm somewhat of a softy! However, the first one that comes to mind is "Brothers" by Dead Brody. Enjoy!

Day 12: Tickling my fancy all the way to NC

Alright, so I've done it. I've failed at updating my 30 day project! Argh. I'm sorry...AGAIN.

So today's day is another "tickle my fancy" day. So what other way to than to give everyone an update as to what's going on with my life!!

Evan is now in North Carolina for additional training...mmhm...go figure. I'm still stuck in California and thinking, what was that reason I didn't go back to Ohio to stay for a bit again? Because, if I were in Ohio it'd only be a 10 hour drive. Hmmpf. Go figure. Oh well. So, to get back on topic, Evan has very crappy cell phone service! It drives me up the wall! He finally was able to skype with me, but that was when he was in Florida, -on his very LAST day in Florida-. Go figure, again. So today, we spent like 87 hours trying to get skype to work again in NC, but it would freeze and be lagging or it'd just say, "screw you guys" and give up on us. Sigh.

My day did get better though!! I finally sat down and budgeted so tightly that I can now take a trip to see my husband!! I'm so stoked! I get to see him in a couple weeks and I couldn't be happier! My countdown has begun. Uh-oh...did she say countdown?!?! Mmhm. Which that leads me to my next topic...countdowns! Remember how I said I had -no- timeline for Evan's training to be over? Well, guess what? I do now! YAY! He'll be done in Septemeber. I better not post the exact date for OPSEC reasons, but yep, September! It couldn't get here sooner.

Oh, yeah, my birthday is Tuesday and my beloved sent me a basket of chocolates from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company! I have chocolate covered strawberries, pineapples, cherries, a carmel M&M apple, and some milk chocolates! I think he's trying to fatten me up! ;). Haha. No, my husband knows me better than anyone in the world!! I have the biggest sweet tooth on the planet! :)

Welp, now that you know I'm tickling my fancy all the way to North Carolina, I think my job here is done!! Hope all of you are doing well!!

Day 11: Picture "Post It" Perfect

Welp, on comes day 11 of my 30 Day Project and it's also Post-it Note Tuesday. So I haven't exactly been real good at keeping up with my blog. I have enough trouble keeping up with my own -real- life! haha. That was funny, you should at least giggle. Okay, so maybe it was lame? Anyway, I figure I can do both of my little memes in one post...so here goes nothin'!

Day 11 suggests that I post a recent picture of myself. Well, I have lots of pictures of me, but I'm always with someone, so here's a picture of my brother and I. He just received his High School Diploma in May and I am holding my degree that I received in December. :) This was taken when I went to Ohio a couple weeks ago.

Alright. On to Post It Note Tuesday....

Day 10: 10 Years Ago, Anyone?

A photo (pic; hence the title) taken of me over 10 years ago is day 10 of the 30 day project. And here it is;

Wasn't I such a cutie?!

And just for fun, here's a picture of my husband over 10 years ago;

He was such a handsome little boy!

Day 9: Picture Perfect

Day 9 of my 30 day project is "A photo that I took". This made me chuckle a little bit, because obviously I haven't looked ahead on that list because the past couple of days I have used pictures that I had taken myself. I guess I could have looked at some pictures on the internet and used them? Oops, oh well, they still met all of the necessary requirements!! :-p

Well, the picture that I think is by far my most favorite "non people" picture would have to be one of the pictures I took while my dad was visiting me here in California. It had rained a little bit on our drive down highway 1 south and then the sun came out to show us a -beautiful- rainbow! If you know anything about highway 1, it is that it is beautiful and it runs north and south all the way down the west coast, right next to the ocean. You get to see where the oceans meets the mountains and it's the prettiest drive you will ever take!!

Day 8: Saddened Pictures

Day 8 of my 30 day project is a photo that makes me sad/angry.

In 2009 I went with some of my classmates to Europe. We visited Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria. While in Germany we went to Dachau, which was a concentration camp from 1933-1945. It was one of the saddest moments of my life. I saw the gas chambers, the barracks (where they lived), the crematory, the churches, the execution range, and all of the other horrible living conditions. Over the 12 years of their existence there were 200,000+ people registered at Dachau and there were approximately 35,000 people that died there. On the positive side of things, it made me proud to know that America helped liberate the camp!!

Below are a few pictures of my visit there. On the front gates it states "Arbeit macht frei" which roughly translates to "work brings freedom". It just broke my heart to walk in there and try to visualize the hard ships of all of those people that passed through there. If you live in America, please count your blessings and realize that you could have it MUCH worse.

Me at the gates of Dachau.

Me standing by the fence. Keep in mind that I am 5'7".

Me standing in front of the Crematorium sign. I wasn't sure whether to smile or not.

The crematorium.

The "Pistol Range for Execution". You could only imagine what was done there.

The memorial at Dachau for all of those who had to suffer those 11 years of misery.

Day 7: Cheese!

And then there was day 7 of my 30 day project, and it asked me for a picture that made me happy....so smile!! CHEESE!!!

Well, let me tell you, I'm a picture kind of gal! I take pictures all the time and I even annoy my husband with my "let's take a picture! Smile!" all the time. I even have a 365 Day with The Resor's on facebook. I post a different picture every day that kinda explains how my day went, or what I did that day, or just whatever.

So today's topic is just difficult. I don't think it's humanly possible to just pick one picture that makes me happy! They all make me happy...for the most part. However, lots of pictures make me sad just because it makes me question where all my time went!?! So let me cut to the chase and just show you guys some pictures.

My brother and I in South Carolina. I love that we match and we look so happy. I'm holding up some kind of eel that my dad had caught. 2006.

Okay, so I was hiding in the refrigerator and someone found me. This makes me laugh because it makes my husband die laughing every time!! 2008.

Evan and I threw my parents a surprise party for their 25th anniversary. It was an absolute blast and something I'll always remember. 2007.

Evan and I, right after we got engaged. This just shows our personalities so well that it makes me so happy every time I see it. :) October 09, 2009.

Evan saying his vows to me on our wedding day. Of course looking back on our special day makes me so happy! Besides, the look on my face is priceless in this picture!! October 12, 2oo9.

My husband and I on the beach. We set a timer on the camera and took this! That night was probably one of the best nights of my life. He was actually -willing- to take pictures!!

Like I said, there are so many pictures that I absolutely love. I just couldn't share all of them, so I picked just a few! :)

Day 6: Weather "tickles my fancy"

Today on my 30 day project is supposed to be whatever "tickles my fancy". Hmm, well today, I'm not really sure what "tickles my fancy", but I'm gonna try and come up with something!! Okay, I'll blog about weather! It's been a hot topic recently, especially since I just got back from my home state of Ohio.

When I visited Ohio, I was asked many, many, times how I liked California. My response -every- time was, "It's cold", and their answer back to that was, "WHAT?! It's CALIFORNIA". Pfft, apparently you have that stereotypical "sunny California" from TV in mind, well, not where I live! It's cold, to me -most times-. Now, don't get me wrong, we have days that are 75 and wonderful, but because we live in Northern California on the water, it gets pretty chilly! This is where I have learned that I'm a season girl. I love my seasons! Give me my winter, spring, summer, and fall!

Last week, in Ohio, it was 80-90 degrees the entire time I was there. I loved that weather! I don't mind the humidity, I actually enjoy it! In the winter it snows several inches and that can be fun too! Out here in Cali, however, it's -not- like that...at all. It's the same year 'round. It stays right around 50-70. You'll have a fluke day, every now and again, that is 75-80. When those days happen we always wanted to go to the beach, right? Right! Pfft...you go to the beach on one of those days and you'll be amongst a huge crowd!

But, yeah, that's pretty much it for whatever "tickles my fancy". Everyone is different when it comes to weather, but I love the warmth!! :)

Day 5: Quote it up!

Welp, I'm so behind, but I figure I can still do my 30 Day Project. It doesn't state anywhere that it has to consecutive!! Since this is day 5, I'm supposed to share my favorite quote. Well, if you know anything about me, or follow me on facebook, you know I -love- quotes. Being a Marine's wife, quotes are the only things that can keep me going sometimes. I have two that I constantly say to myself or say to others to keep them encouraged. They are as followed;

"God will never give you anything you cannot handle."
"Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end."

I'm not sure who said those, or where they came from, but I believe they are both very true. I know the first one is somewhere in the Bible, but it's stated in a round about way...I think? Don't quote me on that! Ha. Get it? Quote me on that?! Ha, okay never mind. That was a lame joke!

There are other quotes that I love from several different movies. They're not so serious as the previous two and they may not be appropriate, but I still think they're pretty funny. They are as followed;

"A flashlight was a moonbeam. A pen was an ink stick. My mouth was a cum receptacle. A bed was a rack. A wall was a bulkhead. A shirt was a blouse. A tie was still a tie, and a belt a belt. But many other things would never be the same." -Jarhead

"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." -Forrest Gump

And lastly, my favorite quote from my favorite book.

"Yeah, it'll be hard, but life moves fast- we'll see each other again. That's what I finally realized. I know that. I can feel that. Just like I can feel how much you care for me and how much I love you. I know in my heart that this isn't over, and that we'll make it through this. Lots of couples do. Granted, lots of couples don't, but they don't have what we have." -Dear John By: Nicholas Sparks

Ahhh! & Day 4

Okay, so I'm a little behind on my30 day project but give me a break! Ha. I've been packing and moving stuff like crazy the past couple days. I can't believe how quickly I've been able to get this done. I'm so glad that a few people have helped me along the way. I'm almost out of the apartment. It makes me sad because that was the Resor's first place, but it will all work out in the end. I now have the social support and am organized for when we have to move to our PDS. Getting to the PDS would be awesome if time would just HURRY UP!!!

Okay, enough of that, I'll get back on topic.

The 4th day of the 30 day project asks me what my favorite book is....(and I'm -not- a reader). That being said, I've only read, throughouly, maybe 5 books (novels) my entire life. Yea, I was that girl. The one that would cheat on her "book reports" in middle school, or while writing a "book review" I'd just say the heck with it and look up sparknotes! haha. I'm allowed to admit that now that I have my bachelor degree (and yes, I got good grades, I was just good in math). I'm trying to get better about reading. I really liked "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks. I liked that book because I could -sorta- relate to what was written, however, watching the movie ruined the book for me. So yeah, I didn't really answer the question, but danced around it. If I had a gun pointed at my head to make me choose my favorite book, I think I'd say "Dear John". :)

Day 3: TV Show

Welp, today is day 3 of my 30 Day Project. What is my favorite TV show? -drum roll please- LOST is the winner!!!! I love love love LOST. My husband and I both watch it and we are sad that it's coming to an end. We own the first 5 seasons on DVD and will be owning the last season. It's one of those shows that you love to hate and hate to love. Once you stop watching it, there's no getting back in it. I also love Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, House, CSI, and Army Wives. I could sit and watch ABC, CBS, NBC, or Lifetime all night long, every night if I had to!

Day 2: Movie

Sometimes I may have two posts a day, but that's simply because I am doing a 30 day project. Today is day 2 and it's a "my favorite movie" day. Well, I have many favorite movies, just like songs. My favorite movie of all time would probably have to be The Notebook, but what girl doesn't like that movie! So, I'm a sucker for romantic movies, but I really like scary movies. I'm in love with the SAW series! As creepy as it sounds, I just love those movies. They're like a big mystery.

Most of the songs I love apply to me.
